vellum grain (stable the sand while the stickiness is low)

Last week result setting

currently setting is : two blockers, one controller, one heightfield.

dopnet work setting: all object friction is 5, expect the controller :0.1

                                  velocity damping 0.02, iterations substeps :5 static threshold 5

                                   dynamic scale :0.5 attraction weight :1 attraction :0.2

                                   click off the Assume Uniform Radius

So the result is stable and I will try to change the attraction weight :0.1 attraction :0.1. to test if I can keep the sand stable while less stickiness.

result:

 dynamic scale :0.1

Result:

static threshold : 2.5

Result:

static threshold : 1.5

Result: particle become unstable

static threshold : 2.0  dynamic scale :0.05

Result: still particle become unstable

static threshold : 2.5  dynamic scale :0.05

Result: still have little bit stickiness

attraction weight :0.05

Result: few particle is flying(jittering)

attraction weight :1 attraction :0.02

Result:

attraction weight :0.1 attraction :0.02 Mass:0.5(the sand seem to be a little light)

Result:  it seems no different at all

attraction weight :0.1 ,attraction :0.05 ,static threshold : 3

Result: The grain is stable but not enough, you still can see the grain is flow in a very

adjust the controller's keyframe(make sure the animation is close to the reference)

Result:

Match the reference

static threshold : 3.5 dynamic scale :0.2

Result:

as the video shows, the grain still is not stable(After the grain is falling down, the grain is still slide slowly which is not correct compare to the reference, so I use less grain to try to find the way which can make the grain stable )

After research and read the documents, I found several way to stable the grain

1. increase the voxel size of the vellum grain

2. customize the attraction weight or the attraction stiffness (or just change the data in vellum solver)

3. change the friction(base on the simulation situation )(for my experience the higher friction the longer time you take to stable the grain )

4. increase the repulsion or shock scaling power(even though it can stable the grain but the grain will make the sand spread to the ground)

After use the different voxel size data. the grain will stable when the voxel size great than the 0.002

Also Adjust the attraction weight and stiffness.

base on the last simulation(Shape of sand edge ) to build the blocker.

Test version voxel size 0.005

the bounce is because of the iteration substeps is not high enough(after test (the best value is around 13-20) After comprehensive consideration I setup the iteration substeps to 15)

Base on the feedback from the professor Adjust the Animation of the controller to make it more smooth.
